I live in the very far southern portion of Illinois in the USA.

A good friend of mine visited there last year and hiked in the area where they filmed Lord of the Rings. He said it was amazing!

I’ve been to Hobbiton before but that’s about it in terms of LOTR/The Hobbit locations. My brother is more of a LOTR fan than I am. Hobbiton was amazing though.

I enjoyed the movies, but that’s about all my fascination is. It was a thing that my dad and I had in common, but since he’s gone now, I probably wouldn’t continue watching them, even if they were still making them. None of my kids are into it.

I’d be more interested in hiking or trail running in that area!
